Blog: Are Bonds the Dog that didn't bark?

The Bond market's lack of reaction to the new Middle East Crisis tells us something.

Gregory (Scotland Yard detective): "Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
Holmes: "To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."
Gregory: "The dog did nothing in the night-time."
Holmes: "That was the curious incident."

Many of you may know this quote, but as an avid Holmesian I couldn't resist using it this week. The quote is from "Silver Blaze" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle where the clue Sherlock Holmes uses to solve the mystery is something which is missing, not something he finds. In this case when a man is murdered, the dog did nothing, implying that he knew the murderer. The dog's lack of reaction was the clue.
