When it comes to inflation, investors are using "two dimensional thinking"

Soft landing sentiment persists. But I've been wondering when investors expect this landing to happen. A soft landing implies a long, smooth glide path and touchdown. Meanwhile a hard landing would mean that the economy and inflation suddenly start falling. But these are just words. Can we convert these words into actual dates and numbers? I think we can, to some extent. The outcome depends on whether we accept linear or non-linear thinking on the part of investors.
